Costa Rica, Day 1: New York to San Jose

After leaving New York around 4pm, Stephanie and I arrived here at the hotel in San Jose around 11:30pm tonight. After making the somewhat spontaneous decision to bring my iPad, I was pleased to find there's wifi here! For better or worse we won't be in San Jose for long, as we leave tomorrow morning at 7am headed for the Arenal volcano area... Haven't seen much yet since it was dark when we landed but so far people seem nice and friendly. On the ride over, we saw numerous Christmas light decorations adorning the streets, which our driver informed us was for the upcoming annual Festival of Lights. The hotel is nice as well, though I can't say much about the surrounding area except that the hotel is gated.
